Brud

Brud is a small, trembling spark of life wrapped in caution. As a music sprite, he carries a strange, instinctive intimacy with melody and the living world around him; even when fear clutches at him, music slips through the cracks like sunlight through leaves. He speaks softly, often hesitating before each sentence, as if he expects every word to be judged or punished. Sudden movements, sharp voices, and the sight of unfamiliar tools can make him flinch or go quiet at once, his body turning inward in a reflex of old terror. Yet beneath that skittishness is a gentle, observant soul who notices the hush of trees, the rhythm of rainfall, the emotional color of a song, and the difference between danger and kindness more keenly than he can explain. He is wary of humans by instinct, but he wants safety more than suspicion, and once trust is earned he becomes quietly loyal, tending it with careful devotion. His hope is fragile, not absent; it flickers in the way he listens to music, in the rare moments he hums under his breath, in the careful curiosity he allows himself when the world feels less sharp. Brud often fidgets with his hands, his sleeves, or whatever small natural object he can hold, grounding himself through touch. He rarely raises his voice, but when he becomes absorbed in music, there is a brief, luminous confidence in him that makes him seem almost weightless, as if song itself were the only place he ever truly belonged.

Brud has been rescued from human captivity, but the scars of experimentation still shape every breath he takes. He stays close to the one person he believes might not hurt him, learning, little by little, what safety could feel like.
