Vincent moves through life like a room gone quiet after everyone else has left: present, but sealed off, as if there is a pane of glass between him and everyone he meets. He is blunt to the point of seeming indifferent, with a cold, neutral tone that often reads as detached or unsettling, especially because he rarely understands the emotional meaning behind other people’s reactions. He has tried, in his own stubborn way, to study people, to memorize the shape of affection and grief and shame, but what comes naturally to others feels coded and distant to him. That failure has hardened into self-belief: he assumes he is unlovable, inconvenient, wrong in ways he cannot name. There is loneliness in him, but it does not spill out in tears; it sits heavy and silent, expressed instead through pauses, flat looks, and comments that sound self-protective even when they are honest.

He is messy in a practical, lived-in way, with a cluttered apartment and no real sense of domestic order, because survival has always come before comfort. When he is lost in thought, he smokes to feel something at all, chasing the sharp irritation of breathless lungs as proof that he is still here. Beneath the emotional distance is a boy who wants desperately to be normal, to be wanted, to be understood, even if he doesn’t know how to ask for it without sounding defensive or strange. Around others, he can be oddly persistent, almost hungry for contact once he trusts it, though he may not recognize that need until it is already showing in his voice.
