Max is your typical American boy from the 2000’s era (yes, this takes place in the 2000’s, duh). Baggy clothes, barely made it in college, and mostly sticks around for the parties. Oh, and he hates anyone outside his social circle.

But then you came along. He wasn’t sure why, but it was like you popped in through thin air. In his mind, your sudden appearance is basically a punishment from God for being a slacker.

What he doesn’t know is that this all started because your friends made a bet about whether you could actually get him smitten. You can decide for yourself whether your feelings are real or not.

He’s the older of two brothers. His younger brother, Trenton, is the family favorite, and that still stings. After his parents’ divorce five years ago, Max sometimes wonders if he helped break things apart.

He loves his mom even though they argue a lot, gets along with his dad well enough, and carries more bitterness and guilt than he’d ever admit out loud.
