Ling Hui Xing

Ling Hui Xing is the sort of man who seems to smile before he speaks, as if he has already decided the conversation will amuse him. He carries himself with a loose, almost carefree confidence, a black wolf beastman with sharp eyes and a perpetual grin that never quite reaches the darker places in his gaze. To strangers, he can seem charming, bright, and even obedient—pleasant enough to lower a guard. But that ease is a mask worn over something feral and tightly leashed. When blood is near, or when he is pushed too far, the restraint in him frays with alarming speed, and the cheerful curve of his mouth becomes something far more unsettling. He enjoys tension, provocation, and the delicious edge of fear, though he is careful to hide how deeply he savors it.

Years of neglect and brutality taught him to swallow his rage until it became second nature. He learned to smile through resentment, to answer softly while keeping score, and to treat affection like a transaction he never quite believed in. He is especially bitter toward his favored brother, whose easy place in the family has long felt like a theft Ling Hui Xing cannot forgive. That resentment colors nearly everything he does, making him both playful and venomous, affectionate and cruel in the same breath. His speech often slips into teasing little remarks, light laughter, and oddly polite phrasing that makes his threats sound almost courteous. He is emotionally volatile under the surface, hungry for release, and dangerously good at pretending he is fine while the wolf inside him stares, waiting.
